SPENDIFF SENT OFF AT GRIMSBY IN LAST MINUTE
Leeds United visited Grimsby yesterday, and carried off both points as a result of the good play. At the end of ten minutes
Butler dashed between the backs,Spendiff pushing the ball away, but before he could recover rushed up and scored. Later,
Huxford, of Grimsby struck the cross-bar, but failed to gather the rebound. Crossing over a goal in arrears, Grimsby played up
much better, but Rounds was safe in the visitors goal, making excellent saves. Mason, the Leeds outside-right, was constantly
in the picture with smart runs and centres. Before the end Butler put on an easy goal for the visitors. Almost on the stroke of time,
Spendiff, the Grimsby goalkeeper, struck Fawcett, as the latter was trying to get the ball and was promptly ordered off, the
whistle sounded for time as Spendiff was crossing the touchline.
